I made it to the Junkyard Saturday morning to look at that Celica I took a picture of last week. It was already crushed! They said they go through up to 400 cars a week and most never hit the yard. So no parts were saved. They did pull the wheels and stuck them in a shipping container so I was able to pull them out. Guy didn’t seem to understand why I would want them.
So many Mustangs, that looks like a lot of crowd damage on these ones.
Ooooh, a Camaro SS with the engine still in it....
Nope, 3.8 with SS badges added. Why?
1970 Suzuki 500
and a Porsche 944 in a stack, they could have at least put it on the top.
Zoidberg; you can get these if you want. If you don’t want them they will stay in my unusual/rare/ vintage parts collection. There is a little bit of rash on 2 of them however.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOO. Someone there at that yard needs to have a serious talk.

I can’t imagine the things that go through there unnoticed

When they crush Mustangs, do they notice the bodies still stuck to the front bumper?

Also, who in their right mind scraps a Celica? I mean.... If it’s shit then maybe, but that one looked nice.

So all those crapstangs just sitting there, and the Celica get crashed. Damn you rednecks.

I think proper etiquette is to stuff them in the trunk first.

I’ve noticed that they refresh the yard after a month or so but everything before that just gets destroyed. And all those Mustangs are mostly picked over just taking up valuable Celica space.

Wow, this is incredibly painful to read :(

I thought for sure they would save it as most of the vehicles in the yard are fairly neat. They have a couple Miatas, a 350z, a couple early-mid 90s Celicas, but they let this one go. At least the wheels were saved. I think when I win the lottery I will pay someone to sit outside the entrance and direct the tow truck drivers to me.

I see tons of shitty cars in your photos and yet they crush an absurdly clean, uncommon little liftback. I could have had every cosmetic bit I needed......
(OK the shitty comment was extreme but really!)

I agree, most of the cars there have been picked over and have been in collisions. They do a really poor job at rotating product at this yard so good stuff doesn’t get a chance to be picked because all the room is being taken up by carcasses.

A Washington state Celica. Hello rust.

That does seem rather dumb to crush a car that was probably 1 of 1 at the yard. While I get that they might not get a lot of people in looking for those parts, at least you should have it on hand. Or, if they insist on crushing it, at least raid it of parts first. I'm sure that one of the 15 mustangs in that row could have been scrapped to make way for Celica. I guess it's a good thing I don't own a yard, I'd probably have the most obscure cars in there, and crush anything "normal"

So much sad in so few pictures. That 944 makes me the most sad though as I would love to strip it clean. The taillights aren’t exactly cheap, and that center taillight section is pretty valuable as well. If I ever get rid of my 924 I’m keeping that piece.

It’s because it’s uncommon. They won’t make enough money off putting it in the yard. I’m sure they’d rather put high volume cars out where lots of people need parts.
Total bullshit at any rate.

speaking of junk.
My roommate and buddy is about to pick up an EF hatch for $300. If everything is alright, i might just take it off his hands.

That is the only Civic I would ever want, and that sounds like a great deal.

Egs are nice, but i like the EFs better. I owned an EM1 before, and except for OBDII the car was a dream, looks and handling wise, but it could have used about 40 more hp, and like 80 more lbs-tq
